Positive, Proactive Social Media Parenting

Description: This program will focus on a positive, proactive approach to parenting in the social media age. This will be an opportunity to learn about popular apps, percentage of students with devices by grade, and how to proactively set standards for students with tech before they ever get a device. Parents will also all receive a family social standards agreement, and have an opportunity to ask questions.  

Bio: EJ Proctor is a social media coach for The Social Institute, where she combines her drive to help empower students with her own experience of growing up using social media. EJ was a student-athlete at Duke University, where she studied visual and media studies and minored in cultural anthropology. She started out as a walk-on for the Duke women’s soccer team, and ended up becoming a three-year starter, 2017 All-America Scholar-Athlete, and helped lead the team to two Final Fours and a national championship game as the starting goalkeeper. After graduating from Duke a semester early, EJ was drafted to Utah Royals F.C. in 2018 to play in the National Women’s Soccer League, which she did until joining the team at The Social Institute. She is passionate about social media and the positive impact it can have on our lives. As a social media coach, EJ will put both her studies and her personal experiences to work, helping schools across the country empower students to navigate social media positively.
