Title: Positive, Proactive Social Media Parenting

Description: This program will focus on a positive, proactive approach to parenting in the social media age. This will be an opportunity to learn about popular apps, percentage of students with devices by grade, and how to proactively set standards for students with tech before they ever get a device. Parents will also all receive a family social standards agreement, and have an opportunity to ask questions.

Bio: Sean Kelly is a former Duke Basketball player who went from working as a student manager to a scholarship walk-on for the 2015 National Championship Blue Devils. During his time at Duke, Sean studied psychology and education. His interest in social media was sparked by the seeing how his teammates used social media and how his own use changed after making the team. Before joining The Social Institute, Sean worked at Creative Artist Agency in the sports department, and at Carlthorp School in Santa Monica, CA, in admissions. As a Social Media Coach for The Social Institute, Sean describes his work as the perfect blend of passion meeting purpose. He hopes to positively impact as many students as possible by helping them use social media for good.
