When:  May 23, 2018 from 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM (ET)

Description:

We all know these feelings: Inquiry numbers for the month are low and we’re desperately trying to understand why; Our first open house was beyond packed and we’re trying to temper our internal enrollment excitement; We’re getting ready to send decisions and our 3 a.m. terrors one night are that we will be woefully under-enrolled but the next night we wake up sweating that we will have way too many students. Admissions Directors might always have these worries but there are tools to help! Learn how to collect and use historical data to impact and predict applications, attrition, yield, and new enrollment. We’ll consider the relationship between the four crucial interconnected components of any successful Admissions Office:

  • Planning: Strategic admissions plan that includes goals, processes, communications, marketing, events, and calendaring.
  • Data/Information: Historical analysis of inquiries, applicants, offers, enrolled (conversion and yield), attrition, and promoter scores. Demographic research that examines potential impact to enrollment goals (enrollment numbers, diversity goals, financial aid), surveys of admissions participants, parent surveys, and focus groups.
  • Action: Informed risk-taking, changing course when needed, adapting priorities, engaging in high-level decision-making, and connecting data to the present.
  • Gut/Feeling: Warmth, connections, instinct, competitiveness, drive, empathy, flexibility.  Together, we’ll deepen our understanding of why all four of these components are crucial to the day-to-day and the long-term health of an enrollment team and school. We’ll figure out where our strengths sit and make tangible plans for addressing our challenges.
