Ethical Behavior and Best Practices

Ethical Behavior and Best Practices for Admission Professionals

Approved by the AISAP Board of Directors, December 2011

AISAP is delighted to introduce a document that we hope will guide our good work in the weeks, months, and years ahead. At the December 2011 board meeting, the AISAP Board of Directors approved Ethical Behavior & Best Practices for Admission Professionals, a statement of best practices prepared by a volunteer task force representing a broad cross-section of our AISAP membership. This is the first such document designed specifically with the admission professional in mind.

The task force began their work on the premise that admission professionals would benefit from a guiding document that reflects their unique perspective in the independent school world. In addition to considering the ideas and experiences of task force members, the document also reflects the opinions of countless other admission professionals, whose feedback was solicited by committee members.

The resultant document, Ethical Behavior & Best Practices for Admission Professionals, is not intended to replace NAIS Principles of Good Practice or other similar documents from consortium or other associations; rather it is meant to go hand in hand with them. Nor is this document intended to be a regulatory one but rather one that provides a level of standards that admission professionals should consider as they seek to be the best professionals they can be.

The AISAP document is comprised of two pieces. The first, inspired by NACAC Principles of Good Practice, focuses on the qualities the task force believes a good admission professional should possess. The second focuses on procedures and processes that make for ethical practice. To read AISAP’s Ethical Behavior & Best Practices for Admission Professionals, please click here: Ethical Behavior & Best Practices for Admission Professionals.
