Our Admission office currently uses the SSAT for our Middle and Upper School assessment. We understand there is the Character Snap Shot component through EMA, but was curious to learn what other schools might use to help evaluate what a student can/will contribute to the school outside of the academics.

    Hi, Alice!

As it happens, I'm going to be presenting a workshop on this very topic at the EMA conference in September.  At Hackley, we developed an in-house rubric that we use in our interviewing - the work to create this device was somewhat deliberate, and somewhat wandering in the dark.  It's still early days for us to see how effectively it works, but we can say with some confidence that the structure mirrors the value priorities of our current parents and students, and that the mechanism itself is rooted in our mission and our aspirations for our graduates.

Let me know if you would like to discuss this further - happy to speak with you personally at the EMA conference, if you're attending, and happy to share what I can of my presentation if you're not able to make it.

    Cheers,

    Chris
