Explicit and systematic use of character criteria in admission has grown rapidly over the last 3-4 years. Independent schools are at the forefront of asserting the importance of character and developing new admission approaches and practices. With the growth of a “character revolution” in admission, however, various constituencies have raised questions about how best to bring fairness, consistency and ethics to the admission process. In response, the Character Collaborative
, a national organization of 75 institutions (including 27 independent schools, AISAP and EMA), has articulated standards of good practice to address these concerns and guide future development. The webinar will address the emergence of the standards and practical ways to ensure their implementation.
