Dr. Jane Goodall to Promote Environmental Stewardship at AIS

World-renowned conservationist will meet students, deliver lecture on her reason for hope

Rosemont, PA – World-renowned primatologist and conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall will bring her message of hope and advocacy for protecting wildlife and the environment to The Agnes Irwin School during Lower and Middle School assemblies and an evening lecture for the school community.

Dr. Goodall will tell stories about her life living among chimpanzees, as reflected in her children’s books, to Lower School students and then give a presentation to Middle School students on the Jane Goodall Institute’s Roots & Shoots, a youth-led community action program that targets specific local challenges in a neighborhood or community, helping people, animals and the environment we all share.

In the evening, Dr. Goodall will deliver a lecture entitled “Sowing the Seeds of Hope,” bringing her audience into the world of the Gombe chimpanzees from her early observations and experiences to the latest news and stories from the field. 2015 marks a very special year as Dr. Goodall celebrates the 55th anniversary of her work at Gombe, which forever changed how the world viewed the relationship between humans and animals. She will discuss how the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) still continues her pioneering research more than five decades later and give her five reasons for hope in these difficult times, showing how each one of us can do our part in helping to make the world a better place for all living things. Dr. Goodall is the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute, a United Nations Messenger of Peace and Dame of the British Empire.
