These past few years have presented many new and enduring challenges for our work in educational equity. At last year’s conference, we talked about “making the moment a movement,” and today, we are profoundly committed to forging a clear path forward for students from historically marginalized and excluded communities. Today’s movement requires that we press on with purpose during uncertain times by designing responsive systems of support, maintaining momentum despite setbacks, and pushing forward in a landscape that is often working against us. As a community, it is more important than ever that shared vision and purpose drive our efforts so we can be a united front for students and their families.
At this year’s NPEA Conference, we will come together to share strategies and ideas for reimagining, restoring, and rebuilding our work in educational access, college and career success, and equity and justice for students. As we tackle the immediate and long-term impacts of post-affirmative action, face the dismantling of policies that have served our communities, and collectively resist the ongoing assault on racial equity and diversity efforts, we will lift each other up, ensuring mental health and wellness are at the forefront. There is much work to be done, but our commitment remains strong - let's move forward together!
