As an admission and marketing professional, Angela Brown empowers organizations to articulate their core purpose in order to increase the quality, diversity, and size of their applicant pools. Angela’s experiences are broad, having served in five distinct independent schools across the country, each with its own unique branding challenge: religious boarding, single-sex day, progressive/urban, single-sex boarding, and elementary.
Throughout her career in education, Angela has designed and led numerous workshops in admission/marketing, diversity recruitment, and intercultural leadership for various organizations, including AISAP, National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and Independent School Management (ISM). Angela also authored a chapter in Diversity Work in Independent Schools: The Practice and the Practitioner, which was published by NAIS in 2013.
Angela is passionate about how individuals and organizations learn and change. As an educational strategist, she assists school leaders in assessing their leadership practices and consults with aspiring school leaders to present their best professional brands in ways that highlight the unique gifts they bring to a school community.
As Assistant Head for Admission and Strategic Initiatives at Dana Hall School (MA), Angela oversees all aspects of enrollment, admission/financial aid, strategic communications and marketing. Previously, Angela served as Director of Admission at The Pike School (MA), Director of Diversity Development at The Harpeth Hall School (TN), Director of Admission at The Urban School of San Francisco (CA), and Associate Director of Admission at St. Paul’s School (NH).
Angela received her M.Ed. in Organizational Leadership from Vanderbilt University and her B.A. from Amherst College. She is a graduate of Phillips Academy Andover and grew up in Marietta, GA. Her secret obsessions include travel, fine black teas, singing, and checking things off a list!
